What's your workout plan?
« on: December 06, 2011, 03:25:31 AM »
I am drinking lots of water, cutting portion size, and I work out at least 4times a week by walking, walking & jogging, a mile on the treadmill (brisk walk), and bike riding. My daughter is my workout buddy, she keeps me going on days I want to slack off, she won't let me. My goal is 35lbs in six months!

I am losing one kg per 10days. I think it is not much or less. Walking for 6 km daily then exercise and low carb food helped to lose 4 kg in 40 days. I used to aeobics as well as Salsa. Salsa is very good dance you need lots of energy for doing it.

My weight training is similar to a full body routine but I don't train legs every session. I train upper body 3 x per week and legs twice per week. I stick to the basic compound movements and keep my sessions short. I also do sprints once per week.

So upper lower split? Seems good man, sprinting to maintain your cardio endurance?

Yeah, I suppose it is more of an upper/lower split, although I train upper when I train legs.

My routine looks something like this:

Deadlift
Pull ups
Press ups

Rows
Bench Press
Close grip push ups

Squat
Overhead Press
Dips

I don't do much cardio, I try to learn from our ancestral past when it comes to exercise. Lost of low-level activity interrupted by short bursts of high intensity, i.e foraging for berries and running away from a lion :D!

My workout plan includes 6 miles on the stationary bike every morning and a cardio workout three afternoons a week to start. My main thing is that I am changing how often I eat and how much I eat. I am cutting my carbs to 15 grams per meal and making sure that I get 25 to 30 grams of protein per meal.  Later, I will add in an upper body workout one day followed by the lower body workout the next day.

My weight has yo-yoed my entire adult life. From 215 to 265 lbs., it's hard to control sometimes. The best thing I have found is to drink more water than you think you need. Drink about 24 ounces right when you wake up and 24 ounces right before you go to bed. Having that water at night will help you wake up early too ('cuz you'll have to pee), so you can get an early start to the day. It sounds stupid, but if you start with water, you'll be able to make healthier choices throughout the day.
