A good tip is to join a group.

I have a group that I joined online that helps me motivates me and vice versa. We have started a contest to see who loses the most weight in a certain period of time, which really spikes up competition and encouragement. I am attending school right now and I get enough of writing so a journal would not help in my case. Hope this helps.

Joining a group is very beneficial :). I have a closed facebook accountability group with about 16 people in there and we try to encourage and motivate each other to do our workouts each day :)

Groups can help because the members can motivate and support you. You are also accountable to the group, being accountable to someone is always a good thing. I'm not in a group myself but I train with my brother and we have the same philosophy on training and nutrition, it helps having a partner.

Joining a fitness group online is a great way to keep you motivated. You are also able to share tips and experiences in order to help each other achieve your fitness goals. Try sites "not so hot" or "sparkpeople" if you don't have immediate family or friends whom you can form a group with. ;)
